Feast of Bl. John Duns Scotus

Blessed John Duns Scotus was born in 1266 in Scotland at Littledean of an Irish family. He received his early education from his Franciscan Uncle, Father Elias Duns, in the friary of Dumfries. During the first decade of the 14th century, the most famous teacher at the universities of Cambridge, Oxford and Paris was Father John Duns of Scotland - the Blessed John Duns Scotus. Not only did he possess one of the keenest and most penetrating minds the world has ever seen, but he was also a humble Friar Minoir and a close follower of St Francis of Assisi.
